I just want to go home and cry at the end of each day...'
This photo is a yoga session at my children's school fete a couple of years ago with several children who attended my personal development sessions.
Currently I'm back in the supply teaching pool (unable to commit my heart to a regular day until the system shifts) covering in numerous schools & noticing the continuing erosion of creativity, PSHE & so much more in many of them.
Experiencing frequently how many kids aren't getting along, tell tales, complain etc. They struggle to form a circle in order to just BE together for circle time, because there is no time, to listen to each other, share stories, ideas and learn more about each other.
Most teachers I speak to are unhappy with what they have to teach and the intensity of the day, and their distracted data collecting headteachers.
Recently, two of them have been in tears when handing over notes for the day to me, overwhelmed by constant admin and pressures to meet unreasonable targets.
One teaching assistant said, 'I just want to go home and cry at the end of each day, I've been here 20 years and all the spontaneity, fun and putting the children's wellbeing at the heart of the community (and the teachers) has gone, I feel so frustrated, disappointed and disempowered, but what can I do?'
Most children do know what a split digraph is though, what a relief, a brilliant skill for their future, sigh😞

3 Part Breath explained in less than a minute compared to the 6 I waffled on for in previous 🙄
'When the breath wanders the mind also is unsteady. But when the breath is calmed the mind too will be still, and the yogi achieves long life. Therefore, one should learn to control the breath'
from the “Hatha Yoga Pradipika,” 14th century CE
Enjoy more energy, oxygen and calm by playing with this 3 part breath.
This breathing is great to do anytime, anyplace anywhere. Take little pauses throughout the day to practice it and notice how great you feel. (if you suffer from respiratory problems please consult a health expert first)

Sibling Falls Outs...
What works well for your family when your children fall out?
Lets face it, it can be a pretty regular and natural occurance in most households. Most parents I speak with say it can be quite exhausting at times though.
How quickly can we pick ourselves up, move on and not keep repeating the same UPSET? What is causing the fall out in the first place and why are our children arguing?
This week I was teaching a Year 4 class and a teaching student came in to observe for the afternoon
A group of 5 boys came in from lunch play, they'd had a bit of a fall out and were hot and bothered. Once they'd cooled off, had a drink and calmed more, I called them over to listen to their stories.
Afterwards, the student's response was 'wow that was so calm and efficient, I never thought of resolving a fall out that way, thank you for sharing'
It's the same strategy I use with my own children, who at the ages of 13 and 11, have some pretty big disagreements at times.
What works well for you when you deal with your family Upsets?
This is a topic I will also be sharing on June 23rd.
