A hiking and camping adventure with Paul in the Dolomites, Italy during the Summer of 2003. We were visiting my sister Kay and Ian @thinkpurpleartstudios, as they were between ski seasons working in Arabba for a walking tour company.
We pitched this tent close to the glacier and warm refugio where most hikers slept. We remember the rissotto, wine and great conversations at the long wooden tables with like minded hikers. They laughed at us for sleeping in our tent. It was soooo cold outside. Rather a cosy canvas though, than a dorm of 100 snorers.
Its a NorthFace Expedition one, still in excellent condition, a brilliant purchase. My Titanium Leki walking poles purchased on this adventure are still intact. Ian gave me lessons in how to walk with them, as I was really uncoordinated. The poles also went up Kilmanjaro Tanzania in 2014 with me.
It is on our family 'goal' list to hike in the Dolomites again. I was too scared to use the Via Ferattas. Paul wasn't. Expect the kids will be up for clipping on and climbing if we get them off Fortnight 🙄
How about you, have you created a family wish list? I know two families who have completed the 3 peaks this year... not ready yet.
